Two-Story Residential Building Drafting Project
Objective:
The objective of this project was to draft a comprehensive design for a two-story residential building covering a total area of 100 square meters, integrating both living spaces and a small commercial area intended for a variety store. Throughout the process, I ensured that the design adhered to local building regulations and standards, focusing on safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal.
Scope of Work:
As a Civil Engineering Draftsperson, I was responsible for producing detailed engineering drawings and plans that conformed to local building codes, ensuring that all safety and functionality specifications were met.
My Role and Contributions:
- Collaboration with Engineers: Worked closely with the lead engineer to define and clarify project requirements, emphasizing a design that maximized space for both residential and commercial uses. This involved brainstorming sessions to create a layout that optimized flow and accessibility for both types of spaces.
- Drafting in AutoCAD and Revit: Utilized both AutoCAD and Revit to develop precise documentation, including:
- Floor Plans: Created detailed layouts that included three bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, dining area, and a 4-square-meter space designated for the variety store. This included planning room adjacencies and ensuring each space was functional and accessible.
- Elevation Drawings: Developed elevation drawings that provided clear visual representations of the building’s exterior design, materials, and finishes. This helped communicate design intent and aesthetic aspects effectively.
- Section Drawings: Generated section drawings to illustrate important structural components and layout details of the building, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and showcasing the building’s overall design integrity.
- Conducting Site Analyses: Carried out comprehensive site analyses to evaluate soil conditions and existing infrastructure, incorporating findings into the design. This allowed for the identification of potential construction challenges and informed decisions about foundations and drainage.
- Technical Documentation Development: Compiled extensive technical documentation, including:
- Specifications for materials and finishes.
- Design calculations that supported structural integrity.
- Compliance reports ensuring alignment with Iranian standards (ISIRI), which facilitated reviews by regulatory bodies.
- Design Revisions: Actively participated in revising the design based on feedback from stakeholders and construction teams. This iterative process helped enhance the project’s feasibility, functionality, and overall design quality.

The project was successfully approved by the local building authority and is slated for construction. The design received praise for its adherence to safety standards and effective compliance with building regulations. This project exemplified my skills as a Civil Engineering Draftsperson, showcasing my ability to execute complex designs that fulfill regulatory requirements while balancing safety, functionality, and aesthetic qualities.
